Carlos Vinicius and Harry Kane scored as Tottenham Hotspur moved to within three points of fourth-placed Chelsea with a 2-0 victory at Aston Villa.
Vinicius tapped in his first Premier League goal from close range on 29 minutes, after neat build-up play between Lucas Moura and Kane.
And then Spurs captain Kane scored his 17th goal of the campaign, putting him level with Mohamed Salah in the lead of the race for the Golden Boot, with a penalty after he had been fouled by Matty Cash.
Villa substitute Anwar El Ghazi fired a shot into the side-netting on the hour mark but goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was rarely troubled as Spurs bounced back from their defeat at Arsenal last time out.
The win moves Spurs up to sixth on 48 points, one point and place adrift of West Ham United. Villa stay 10th on 41 points.
