MAN OF THE MATCH?

Match summary

Swansea City boosted their hopes of Premier League safety with a 2-0 win over relegated Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

The visitors took the lead after nine minutes. Gylfi Sigurdsson's free-kick was nodded in by Fernando Llorente for the Spaniard’s 14th goal of the season and his seventh header – the most in the league.

Two injuries forced Sunderland into making early changes, with Jason Denayer and Victor Anichebe limping off.

Just before the break, Swansea doubled their advantage. Ki Sung-yueng found Kyle Naughton and the right-back struck his first Premier League goal with a brilliant effort into the top corner.

Billy Jones and Jermain Defoe came close for Sunderland after the break, but Swansea saw out the match to move level on points with Crystal Palace and four clear of Hull City, for whom a defeat at Selhurst Park on Sunday would spell relegation.
