WHO'S GOING TO BE YOUR

MAN OF THE MATCH?

Match summary

Patrick van Aanholt's first Crystal Palace goal lifted the Eagles out of the bottom three with a narrow victory over Middlesbrough.

The January signing from Sunderland fired in from the edge of the box with 34 minutes gone, giving Sam Allardyce his first home victory as manager.

Middlesbrough goalkeeper Victor Valdes denied both Christian Benteke and Jason Puncheon before being beaten by Van Aanholt, while James McArthur failed to sort out his feet after being played in by Wilfried Zaha.

Cristhian Stuani struck Boro's best opportunity straight at Wayne Hennessey, as the south Londoners held firm to move above Leicester City and Hull City into 17th place.
