Befrienders Worldwide 

Befrienders Worldwide is an international network of over 90 help centres spanning the globe. Their members provide emotional support to people who are suicidal or in distress. 

If you’re having a difficult time or if you’re worried about someone else, Samaritans have a range of resources that can support you:

NHS Support Services & Resources 

If it’s an emergency or you consider someone to be at risk of immediate harm, call 999, or go to A&E.

NHS111 – if you or someone else is experiencing a mental health crisis – call 111 and select the mental health option for 24-hour urgent mental health advice and support. Or get help via NHS 111 online

NHS Mental Health – website providing trusted information on mental health conditions, self-help resources, treatments and services. 

NHS Talking Therapies - self refer for confidential treatments and therapies delivered by fully trained and accredited NHS practitioners

Every Mind Matters – NHS online digital tools to support your wellbeing.

GP – alternatively, speak to your GP who will be able to work through the options for what might help.

James’ Place – a charity offering free help and treatment for suicidal men in Liverpool, London, Newcastle and Birmingham.

Papyrus– a charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide and the promotion of positive mental health and wellbeing in young people. 

HOPELINE247 is their confidential support and advice service. Contact on 0800 068 4141 or Text: 88247 

CALM– a suicide prevention charity. CALM’s suicide prevention helpline is for anyone affected by suicide or suicidal thoughts. Call 0800 58 58 58 (17:00 – 00:00) or visit their web chat. 

Support After Suicide Partnership – bringing UK services together to support people bereaved by suicide in the UK.

MIND– a mental health charity raising awareness and supporting people with mental health problems. 

Movember– a charity changing the face of men’s health, including mental health and suicide prevention. 

Shout text ‘SHOUT’ to ‘85258’ when in need of support. This service is available 24/7 to people in the UK. 

Gambling Support 

NHS – help for problems with gambling 

National Gambling Clinic – free, confidential NHS service supporting people who are experiencing harm from gambling aged 13 to 18. 

GamCare – provider of information, advice and support for anyone affected by gambling harms. 

Gamble Aware – free gambling support, treatment and therapy across Great Britain.
