Wolves had the better chances at New Bucks Head with Pedro Goncalves firing just wide in the second half.
Villa's Harvey Knibbs also had a header saved at point-blank range by Andreas Sondergaard.
Wolves, now unbeaten in three PL2 matches, climb above Southampton on goal difference on 21 points, three behind leaders Reading, while Villa are fifth, four points further back.
