Tyler Smith scores twice as the Blades win 2-1 in their Premier League Cup quarter-final tie

Sheffield United reached the semi-finals of the Premier League Cup with a 2-1 victory over Newcastle United in the last eight.

The Blades went in front after two minutes at Stocksbridge Park Steels, when Tyler Smith converted from William Portman's cross-cum-shot.

Victor Fernandez levelled for Newcastle midway through the second half with a low shot.

But Smith scored his and Sheffield United's second with 15 minutes left.

The Blades join holders Swansea City in the last four. Leicester City v Wolverhampton Wanderers and Middlesbrough v Aston Villa are the remaining quarter-final ties.
