When does the summer transfer window close? What are the biggest deals so far? Your complete guide to Deadline Day

Tuesday 1 September is Transfer Deadline Day for the summer window. Here is everything you need to know.

What is Transfer Deadline Day?

Transfer Deadline Day allows clubs a final opportunity to strengthen their squads before the transfer window closes.

When does Deadline Day end?

The 2026 summer transfer window will close at 23:00 BST on Tuesday 1 September. It has been open since 15 June.

When do other leagues' windows close?

To ensure harmonisation with other major leagues in Europe, the closing date of 1 September will also apply to the EFL, Bundesliga, Serie A, LaLiga and Ligue 1, who will all close their transfer windows on the same date.

But players may still complete a transfer away from Premier League clubs after 1 September, as leagues other than those listed above may have different deadlines.

Can signings be made after the deadline?

While the window shuts at 23:00 BST, deals can still be announced after the deadline. That is because clubs have a two-hour grace period to complete a signing if they have submitted a deal sheet ahead of the deadline.
