Who are the best picks for Double Gameweek 33 in FPL?

We look at the data to reveal the standout options from Bournemouth, Brighton, Burnley, Chelsea, Leeds and Man City

The Scout analyses the data to reveal the best picks from the six clubs that play TWICE in Double Gameweek 33 (DGW33) of Fantasy Premier League.

DGW33 is set to be the biggest Double Gameweek of the season, with six clubs playing twice: AFC Bournemouth, Brighton & Hove Albion, Burnley, Chelsea, Leeds United and Manchester City.

Players from those clubs will get two opportunities to score points, so they are great picks ahead of Saturday's 11:00 BST deadline.

DGW33 schedule
Club DGW33
Bournemouth Newcastle (A), Leeds (H)
Brighton Spurs (A), Chelsea (H)
Burnley Nott'm Forest (A), Man City (H)
Chelsea Man Utd (H), Brighton (A)
Leeds Wolves (H), Bournemouth (A)
Man City Arsenal (H), Burnley (A)

But beware! These same six clubs won't play at all in the following round of matches. They will have a "Blank Gameweek 34" and their players will score zero points.

So, who are the best DGW33 picks? Let's look at the data.

Man City

Man City are arguably the one DGW33 club who merit a triple-up, with momentum very much on their side in their pursuit of Arsenal at the top of the table.

Erling Haaland’s (£14.4m) recent hat-trick in Man City’s FA Cup win over Liverpool shows why he’s a must-have once again in Fantasy.

Although he has now blanked in four successive league outings, the Norwegian’s hefty 58 per cent ownership shows why he is near-certain to be the most-selected captain for DGW33. Don’t go without him.

Nico O’Reilly’s (£5.0m) fitness will determine the best way to invest in Pep Guardiola’s defence in Fantasy.

Listed as a defender, O’Reilly is Man City’s form player thanks to a move into midfield – he’s scored five goals and amassed 52 points across his last five matches.

If O’Reilly is ruled out, January signing Marc Guehi (£5.1m) looks a better option than Matheus Nunes (£5.3m) due to his potential for attacking and defensive returns.

Since making his City debut in Gameweek 23, Guehi leads Nunes by 13 shots in the box to one, and by four defensive contribution points to zero.

Elsewhere, Antoine Semenyo (£8.2m) has amassed 56 points since making his City debut in Gameweek 22, second only to the 60 of O'Reilly.

The Ghana international's ownership of 56 per cent means he is second only to Haaland among all players and certainly makes him the safest route into Man City's midfield.

Nonetheless, if you're looking for a differential, then an ownership of only eight per cent suggests Rayan Cherki (£6.3m) is worth considering.

The Frenchman has started each of Man City's last four matches across all competitions and now appears to be a secure pick under Guardiola.

As you can see from the table below, although he trails Semenyo by four goal involvements (goals or assists) to six since the latter arrived, Cherki has played over 300 minutes less.

Indeed, in terms of points per start, Cherki has a slight edge over Semenyo, by 5.8 to 5.6.

  Semenyo Cherki
Ownership 56.5% 8.1%
Goals + assists 6 4

Chelsea

If you're backing Chelsea, it's all about Joao Pedro (£7.7m) and Cole Palmer (£10.5m).

As you can see from the table below, they are the Blues' top-scoring players by some distance since Liam Rosenior took charge in Gameweek 22.

Joao Pedro has been involved in 14 goals, scoring eight and assisting a further six, to collect 82 points. He's had 14 big chances, which are situations where a player is expected to score.

Palmer's 64 points are some 27 ahead of his nearest rival, Enzo Fernandez (£6.5m). The England star has had eight big chances and created three more, while he is also on penalties for his club.

Brighton

Jan Paul van Hecke's (£4.5m) many routes to points returns make him the best option for Brighton & Hove Albion.

The centre-back has blanked only once in his last seven matches, amassing 38 points thanks to four clean sheets, eight defensive contribution points (DC) and two bonus points.

Forward Denny Welbeck (£6.2m) sits just one point behind Van Hecke, scoring four goals and collecting nine bonus points.

If you're looking for a budget differential in midfield, Diego Gomez (£4.9m) costs under £5.0m and is owned by under one per cent of managers.

The Paraguyan has started each of the Seagulls' last seven matches from Gameweek 26 onwards and is their joint-top scorer along with Van Hecke on 38 points.

Pascal Gross (£5.5m) doesn't make the table below but, unlike Gomez, he has played from start to finish in all seven of those matches. The German has been handed set-piece duties since returning to the club, creating a team-high 14 chances over the last seven Gameweeks.

Bournemouth

If you're looking to double-up on AFC Bournemouth's backline, it's best to pick two of out of defensive trio of James Hill (£4.2m), Adrien Truffert (£4.7m) and centre-back Marcos Senesi (£5.2m), rather than one of them along with goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic (£4.5m).

The table below shows that since Hill secured a starting role in Gameweek 19, just three points separate Hill, Truffert and Senesi. Yet whereas all three have exceeded 60 points due mainly to their defensive contributions, Petrovic claimed only 50 points despite mirroring their four clean sheets.

In terms of ownership, Senesi is by far the most-selected Bournemouth player, found in 22 per cent of squads, and is the safest pick to own. He's also matched Hill's five shots in the box during this spell.

Truffert's form suggests he could be the better pick to go alongside the Argentinian here, with the left-back delivering an assist against both Manchester United and Arsenal across the last two Gameweeks.

In midfield, Alex Scott (£5.0m) is the least likely to let you down, while Marcus Tavernier (£5.4m) boasts the greatest attacking potential.

Scott has blanked in only FIVE of his last 17 starts from Gameweek 14 onwards, combining two goals and an assist with 22 defensive contribution points (DC).

Since he returned from injury in Gameweek 28, penalty-taker Tavernier beats Scott by 16 shots to 10, nine shots in the box to four and 10 chances created to six. All three of Tavernier's totals also rank top for Bournemouth.

Hill 66 3 4 22
Scott 66 3 4 22

Petrovic 50 0 4 4

Leeds

Leeds' goalkeeper Karl Darlow (£3.9m) and defender Gabriel Gudmundsson (£3.8m) are likely to be popular picks with managers who are playing their Bench Boost chip in DGW33 due to their ultra-low prices under £4.0m.

Leeds have conceded just one goal across their last three matches, with Darlow collecting 16 points across those contests.

In attack, Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£5.6m) has scored just once in his last 10 league matches and faces a tough task to find a place in managers' frontlines.

If you're needing a reliable cheap midfielder, Ethan Ampadu (£4.9m) could fit the bill. He's earned defensive contribution points in 15 of his 29 starts this season, while also producing a goal and two assists.

Burnley

It's hard to make a case for any of the Clarets' regulars, but it is worth noting that midfielder Jaidon Anthony (£5.0m) scored against both his DGW33 opponents, Man City and Nott'm Forest, earlier this season to collect a combined 16 points.
