Manchester United got off to a dream start under new head coach Michael Carrick as they secured a dominant 2-0 victory over local rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford.
Maguire made his first start since November after recovering from a hamstring injury and played a key role in Man Utd keeping a clean sheet, while also heading against the crossbar at the other end of the pitch.
The centre-back's valiant performance impressed Alan Shearer, the Premier League's record goalscorer, who has named Maguire in his Team of the Week along with four of his Man Utd team-mates, plus Carrick as the manager.
