Wilson rewards new owners with his biggest FPL haul EVER

Harry Wilson

Fulham winger enjoys a memorable evening against Burnley as he scores once and assists twice to earn 16 points

Almost 800,000 managers in Fantasy Premier League are celebrating their decision to bring in Harry Wilson (£5.5m) in Gameweek 16 as the Fulham midfielder rewarded them with his biggest EVER haul of 16 points.

Wilson was the sixth most-bought player in a week where managers were given five free transfers, and he responded by scoring one goal and setting up the Cottagers' other two in their 3-2 win at Burnley.

The Welshman’s previous-best tally of 15 points had come in the final Gameweek of the 2022/23 season against Luton Town.

His 42 points across the last four Gameweeks are behind only Phil Foden (£8.8m) and Bruno Fernandes (£9.3m) among all players in Fantasy.

Wilson’s price rose by £0.2m in the week leading up to the Gameweek 16 deadline and could increase further in the days ahead. Over 600,000 managers have already bought the Fulham winger for Gameweek 17.

Fulham's next two opponents, Nottingham Forest and West Ham United, both rank among the worst six teams for goals conceded. The latter have kept just one clean sheet all season.

Three players bought by more than one million managers

For just the second time this season, three players have been transferred in by more than 1m managers each.

Foden was the No 1 transfer target for the second successive Gameweek and delivered his fourth consecutive double-digit haul. The Englishman scored and registered defensive contribution points, as well as claiming a share of the bonus.

Brentford's Igor Thiago (£7.2m) was recruited by over 1.5m for Sunday's meeting with Leeds United at the Gtech Community Stadium. However, the Brazilian failed to add to his seven home goals and blanked for the third Gameweek in a row.

Fernandes was the third player to be snapped up by more than 1m managers, with Manchester United hosting AFC Bournemouth in the final match of the Gameweek.

The Portuguese duly rewarded his new owners with his third double-figure return in four matches in a thrilling 4-4 draw at Old Trafford, combining a goal with an assist and the maximum three bonus points.

GW16 most-bought players

Foden 1,750,069 11
Thiago 1,589,697 2
Fernandes 1,059,317 13
Cash 960,054 0
Chalobah 820,151 9
Wilson 798,491 16
Guimaraes 754,871 1
Dewsbury-Hall 686,850 1
Saka 685,914 11
Guehi 518,398 1

Trevoh Chalobah (£5.5m) rewarded his new owners with a nine-point return in Chelsea's 2-0 victory against Everton, thanks to a clean sheet, defensive contribution points and a share of the bonus. The Chelsea defender remains the Blues' top-scoring player in Fantasy and has returned at least six points in seven of the last nine Gameweeks.

By contrast, there was disappointment for the 680,000+ managers who purchased Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (£5.1m). The Englishman returned just a single point, limping off against his former club with a hamstring issue after just 15 minutes.

Marc Guehi (£5.3m), Matty Cash (£4.9m) and Bruno Guimaraes (£7.0m) also left Fantasy managers scratching their heads as the trio could only muster two points between them.
