Kirk, who has been refereeing for 16 years, has risen through the traditional pathway since he started officiating at the age of 17.
He has now been given an opportunity to operate in the top flight as Professional Game Match Officials (PGMO) continues to identify and develop talented referees.
Promoted to the EFL ahead of the 2022/23 season, Kirk made his Championship debut in 2023, with further appointments coming in the 2024/25 season.
He finished last season as fourth official for the League Two playoff final at Wembley.
That was Kirk's second appearance at the national stadium, having also been the fourth official there for the EFL Trophy final in 2024.
Ahead of this 2025/26 season, Kirk was named on PGMO's newly created supplementary list of match officials for the Select Group, serving both the EFL and Premier League.
