Arsenal's Eze voted Player of the Matchweek

Midfielder tops fan poll as best player in 12th round of Premier League matches

Arsenal midfielder Eberechi Eze has been voted Player of the Matchweek for Matchweek 12.

Eze starred in Arsenal's emphatic 4-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur, netting a brilliant first senior hat-trick in his first north London derby, as the Gunners recorded their joint-biggest Premier League victory over Spurs.

England international Eze, who was linked with a move to Spurs before swapping Crystal Palace for the Emirates Stadium in August, got his first two goals in quick succession either side of half-time and completed a stunning hat-trick with another expert finish past Guglielmo Vicario in the 76th minute.

He became the first player to score a hat-trick in a Premier League north London derby, and only the fourth player to do so all-time.

The 27-year-old picked up a record 61 per cent of the fan vote in Matchweek 12 to beat his nearest challenger, Nottingham Forest defender Murillo (11 per cent).

The other six nominees were Jordan Pickford (nine per cent), Andrey Santos (six per cent), Harvey Barnes, Alphonse Areola and Morgan Rogers (all four per cent), and Yeremy Pino (one per cent).

This season's Player of the Matchweek winners have now come from six different clubs, with Arsenal joining Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.
