The Premier League Foundation is today celebrating 15 years of community impact, with a renewed commitment to tackling inequalities and raising aspirations for people across England and Wales.
Previously known as the Premier League Charitable Fund, the Premier League Foundation is one of the largest sports charities in the world and, since its formation in 2010, has played a key role in helping develop football's role in society.
More than 2.5 million individuals have benefitted from the charity, which aims to use the power of football to foster positive sporting, health, personal and education opportunities for children, young people and the wider community.
"A new era has begun for the Premier League Foundation, renaming from the Premier League Charitable Fund as we celebrate 15 years of impact," said Premier League Foundation Chief Executive Alex White.
"As we move forward as the Premier League Foundation, our commitment to club charities and local communities remains as strong as ever.
"We will continue to use football's unique reach to tackle inequalities, raise aspirations, and empower millions more people to reach their potential, driving equity, opportunity, and lasting impact for people across the country."
Annual investment into communities via the Premier League Foundation has almost quadrupled since the charity's launch, with the Premier League committing more than £425million since the Foundation's formation in 2010 up to 2028.
This investment is part of the Premier League's ongoing commitment to distribute funds across all levels of the game, with £1.6 billion invested into communities and wider football over the past three years.
The Premier League Foundation uses Premier League funds and those from partners, including the Professional Footballers' Association, to support the delivery of community and school-based programmes.
These include major initiatives such as Premier League Kicks, Premier League Primary Stars and Premier League Inspires, delivered through 106 professional football club charities across the Premier League, EFL and National League.
The Premier League Foundation also distributes infrastructure grants, thanks to investment from the Premier League and Professional Footballers’ Association, with support underpinning a network of more than 7,400 people employed in football club charities to reach under-served communities across England and Wales.
"We are extremely proud of the impact delivered through the Premier League Foundation over the past 15 years and remain committed to utilising football's reach to transform lives," said Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters.
“The success of the Premier League enables us to provide unparalleled support for the wider game and communities. Our continued investment into local communities through the Premier League Foundation helps clubs and their charities make a huge difference to thousands of lives week in, week out.
"Funding through the Premier League Foundation supports 106 clubs across the Premier League, EFL and National League to deliver community programmes, employing more than 7,400 people nationwide."
Marking 15 years of community impact, recent independent research by Substance has revealed the benefits brought to society as a result of the Premier League Foundation's work.
The findings show that the impact and value of community outreach across the Premier League Foundation's network is significant, with every £1 invested into club charities generating £21 social value for their local communities.
