The numbers behind Erling Haaland's 100 Premier League goals

We take a look at the incredible numbers behind Man City forward's first Premier League century

Erling Haaland has joined the 100 Club and, of course, he’s done it faster than any other player in Premier League history.

Here, we look at the incredible numbers behind the Manchester City forward's century of Premier League goals...

Fastest player to reach 100 goals

Haaland took just 111 matches to reach the century, becoming the quickest player ever to do so, beating Alan Shearer’s record of 124 matches. That’s 13 fewer games, shaving 12 per cent off Shearer.

Even those close to the Norwegian required roughly an entire extra 38-game season to reach 100 goals.

Fastest players to 100 goals in Premier League history
Date Achieved Player Appearances
02/12/2025 Erling Haaland 111
30/12/1995 Alan Shearer 124
04/02/2018 Harry Kane 141
19/04/2016 Sergio Aguero 147
10/02/2004 Thierry Henry 160
Haaland has scored 28 goals more than anyone else since his debut

Since his first Premier League game for Man City in August 2022, nobody has come close to scoring at the same rate as Haaland.

Mohamed Salah is second on the list with 70 goals and Alexander Isak is third, with 55.

Given that Salah is a Premier League legend and Isak the most expensive striker in the competition's history, that really shines a light on how absurdly good Haaland has been.

Haaland has scored at 22 of 23 stadiums he’s played at

Haaland has scored at every single stadium he has played at aside from Anfield, proving not only he can score against anyone, but also anywhere.

Aside from the Etihad Stadium, where he’s scored 58 goals in 54 games, Haaland’s favourite ground is London Stadium, where he has scored six goals in three matches.

Back to the Etihad, only Sergio Aguero – with 106 goals in 142 – has more Premier League goals on that ground.

He broke the single-season record in his debut campaign

Haaland’s 36 Premier League goals in his debut season, 2022/23, broke the 34-goal single-season record set by Andrew Cole and Shearer.

He did so in only 35 matches, and the Shearer and Cole records were in 42-game campaigns.

Haaland is set to break his own single-season record – and could hit 52

The Man City striker could break it again. With 15 goals in 14 matches, Haaland is on track to score at least 40 Premier League goals this season.

Haaland is likely to slow down a little, but he needs only 22 goals in 24 games – underperformance, you’d think, for him – to break his own Premier League record.

Haaland on course for his third Golden Boot, closing in on the record

Currently four goals clear of his nearest rival this season, Haaland is highly likely to win his third Coca-Cola Golden Boot award in just four years in English football, becoming one of just five players to achieve that feat.

The record is four, held jointly by Thierry Henry and Salah. Haaland will surely break that.

Most Premier League Golden Boot Awards
Player No. of Golden Boots
Thierry Henry 4 (01/02, 03/04, 04/05, 05/06)
Mohamed Salah 4 (17/18, 18/19, 21/22, 24/25)
Alan Shearer 3 (94/95, 95/96, 96/97)
Harry Kane 3 (15/16, 16/17, 20/21)
Haaland has scored a higher proportion of his team’s goals than anyone else

Haaland’s 100 goals represent 34 per cent of City’s total goals of 294 since he signed, which, again, is more than any other player.

Players with highest share of team's goals
Player Team Player share Goals Team goals
Erling Haaland Man City 34.0% 100 294
Liam Delap Ipswich 33.3% 12 36
Mohamed Salah Liverpool 26.2% 70 267
Ollie Watkins Aston Villa 25.4% 51 201
Jean-Philippe Mateta Crystal Palace 23.6% 39 165
Haaland scores in a huge variety of ways

Haaland has scored 71 with his left foot, 11 with his right, and 17 with his head. That leaves us one short… which is a strange goal in a 4-4 draw with Chelsea in November 2023, when Haaland slid his body into the ball.

In terms of where he scores, there is more consistency here, as you might expect: 94 from inside the box and just six from outside.

Haaland’s numbers put him on course to be all-time leading scorer in 2031

Since his Man City debut, Haaland is averaging 0.93 goals per Premier League game, meaning, to surpass Shearer’s all-time record of 260 goals, he needs another 174 games to get the required additional 161 goals.

Haaland is averaging 33 Premier League appearances per season, meaning he needs another five years and four months (from now) to get there.

We are looking at March/April 2031 at the current rate. With Haaland’s contract not expiring until 2034, he has more than enough time to do it.

If he stuck around - if he stayed at Man City and retired, like Shearer, at 35 - then at the current rate he would end on over 400 goals, obliterating all the records.
