Why the players were nominated
Gabriele Biancheri (Manchester United): The Welsh forward was sensational in October and produced five goal involvements in as many matches. He followed up an assist in a 2-1 away win at Everton, with a stunning hat-trick and another assist as Man Utd thumped Tottenham Hotspur 4-1.
Luca Fletcher (Ipswich Town): Fletcher was a standout performer for an Ipswich side that won all three of their matches across the month. The No 10's playmaking qualities proved pivotal for his side. He produced the decisive assists in two 1-0 victories against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United, setting up the winner in both games.
Laurence Giani (Stoke City): The high-flying left-back shone at both ends of the pitch for Stoke. Giani excelled in the final third and provided all three assists in a 3-1 win against Blackburn Rovers, taking his tally for the season to a league-high five.
Seb Naylor (Manchester City): Naylor began the month with an impressive defensive display at full-back as Man City eased to a 3-0 victory over Reading. He then showed his attacking qualities against Leicester City, recording two assists and a clean sheet in a 4-0 home victory.
Brandon Powell (Blackburn Rovers): The 20-year-old either scored or assisted in each of Blackburn's three matches. Powell was used to different roles, yet consistently showed his tactical versatility. The pick of his performances came in their final win of the month against Manchester United, when he was deployed in the No 10 role. Powell not only scored and assisted, but he won the most duels of the match, with nine.
Mamad Sangare (Manchester City): The Man City striker was too hot for Reading to handle at the start of October, netting two goals. Sangare was on target once more against Leicester, taking his season's tally to three goals.
Luca Williams-Barnett (Tottenham Hotspur): September's PL2 Player of the Month picked up where he left off, recording four goal involvements in just three matches in October. Williams-Barnett's standout performance came against Newcastle, where he scored twice, produced one assist and created the most chances of the match, with six, to seal a 4-1 victory for Spurs.
Woody Williamson (Ipswich Town): Ipswich sit top of the PL2 table one point clear of Man Utd - and goalkeeper Williamson has played a big part of their success thus far. The 19-year-old captained his side to a 1-0 victory against Newcastle, his second clean sheet of the month having already made four crucial stops to protect Ipswich's lead in a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
