Buendia wins Guinness Goal of the Month

Aston Villa midfielder claims October award for his incredible winner against Spurs

Emiliano Buendia’s superb strike in Aston Villa’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur has been voted October 2025’s Guinness Goal of the Month.

Watch: Buendia's incredible goal

Buendia came off the bench to score the 77th-minute winner after an outstanding team move. It started with a superb volleyed pass from Matty Cash to Lucas Digne on the right. Digne brilliantly brought the ball down before feeding Buendia, who cut inside and curled a low, left-footed shot that flew beyond Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario into the far corner.

The 28-year-old Argentinian wins the award for the first time after his goal topped a shortlist of eight of the best in October following votes from the public and a panel of experts.

Buendia is the first Villa player to win the accolade since Jhon Duran claimed the award for his goal against Everton in September 2024. He is third overall, with Danny Ings' scissor kick at home to Newcastle United in August 2021 also winning.

Buendia is only the fifth Argentinian to win the prize, after Manuel Lanzini (October 2020), Erik Lamela (March 2021), Alejandro Garnacho (November 2023) and Alexis Mac Allister (December 2023).
