Scout Selection: Best Fantasy team for Gameweek 9

Fantasy Premier League

See the ideal line-up, which includes four double-ups, and Man City star Haaland as captain

The Scout selects the dream team for Gameweek 9 of Fantasy Premier League ahead of Friday's 18:30 BST deadline.

This week's line-up features double-ups on four clubs at both ends of the pitch.

Crucially, all four teams have home fixtures this weekend.

On Saturday afternoon, Chelsea duo Reece James (£5.5m) and Enzo Fernandez (£6.7m) face Sunderland, while Newcastle United’s Nick Pope (£5.2m) and Nick Woltemade (£7.4m) take on Fulham.

The following day, Arsenal pair Gabriel (£6.4m) and Bukayo Saka (£10.0m) play Crystal Palace, while AFC Bournemouth’s Marcos Senesi (£5.0m) and Antoine Semenyo (£8.1m) face Nottingham Forest.

The team line up in a 3-4-3 formation, with Erling Haaland (£14.7m) once again handed the captain's armband and Saka named vice-captain.

Nick Pope (Newcastle) £5.2m

Five clean sheets have taken Newcastle's No 1 to second place in the goalkeeper standings on 43 points. Pope has also proved a consistent source of save points, earning one of them in five of his eight appearances.

Gabriel (Arsenal) £6.4m

Arsenal’s Brazilian, who is an injury doubt against Palace, is the most-owned and top-scoring defender in Fantasy, found in 34 per cent of squads for his home match with Palace. Gabriel has amassed 34 points in the last three Gameweeks alone thanks to his multiple routes to returns, combining a goal and an assist with two clean sheets, four defensive contribution points and seven bonus points.

Reece James (Chelsea) £5.5m

Chelsea's right-back faces Sunderland fresh from his season-high haul of 18 points against Nottingham Forest last weekend. James has played 90 minutes in each of the last four Gameweeks to ease any injury worries, and a goal and three assists underlines his huge attacking potential.

Marcos Senesi  (Bournemouth) £5.0m

Bournemouth’s centre-back ranks joint-fourth among defenders, producing two assists and three clean sheets. Senesi has also earned 14 further points for his defensive contributions, the equivalent of more than three clean sheets, ahead of a favourable home encounter with Nottingham Forest.

Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) £10.0m

The Arsenal winger is the No 1 target for managers in midfield, earning 245,000 new owners for Gameweek 9. Saka has scored in both his home starts this season, while his visitors have been poor in defence recently. Palace have conceded 14 big chances - situations where the player is expected to score - in the last four Gameweeks, just one off bottom spot.

Bruno Fernandes (Man Utd) £8.9m

Manchester United’s Portuguese is another player to consider for the captaincy. Fernandes has produced a 10-point return in two his last three outings at Old Trafford and now has a home match against a Brighton & Hove Albion side who have yet to keep a clean sheet all season.

Antoine Semenyo (Bournemouth) £8.1m

The Ghana international’s home form indicates he is among the top captaincy candidates in Gameweek 9. Semenyo has amassed 42 points in his four outings at Vitality Stadium and faces a Nottingham Forest side who, similarly to Brighton, have conceded in all of their eight league matches.

Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea) £6.7m

As evidenced by his converted penalty against Ajax in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday evening, the Argentina international is on spot-kick duties for Chelsea while Cole Palmer (£10.3m) remains sidelined through injury. Enzo's total of 38 points in his last six matches ranks joint-second among all midfielders, with three goals, two assists, two defensive contribution points and three bonus points showcasing his great all-round potential in Fantasy.

Erling Haaland (Man City) £14.7m

The Manchester City star visits Aston Villa with just one blank all season, producing at least eight points in the other seven matches. More than 6.3million managers handed Haaland the captain's armband in Gameweek 8, and he has since scored for the 12th successive match for club and country in midweek, against Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League. Expect him to be the runaway captain favourite once again.

Nick Woltemade (Newcastle) £7.4m

Newcastle’s frontman is the most-bought player in the Gameweek, with 547,000 managers bringing him in. Woltemade has scored in four of his five Premier League appearances for the Magpies and faces a Fulham side who have only one clean sheet in eight attempts.

Igor Thiago (Brentford) £6.1m

Brentford's Brazilian sits just one point off second place among forwards, scoring five goals to collect 40 points. Thiago hosts a Liverpool side whose total of 14 big chances conceded in the last four Gameweeks is just one away from bottom place.
