It has been a thrilling start to the Premier League season, with a congested title fight in prospect, sparkling new signings, goals galore and brilliant individual performances.
But who do you think has shone brightest? Have your say in our fan vote for the Premier League’s player of the season so far.
Here, football writer Ben Bloom picks out the 11 leading contenders and highlights their achievements so far.
Moises Caicedo (Chelsea)
Chelsea’s 2024/25 player of the season has picked up where he left off with a thunderous start to the campaign.
The Ecuadorian defensive midfielder tops the Premier League charts for tackles and interceptions, with 28 and 18 respectively this season, while he has also weighed in on the attacking front, scoring three times in the league, making him Chelsea’s joint-highest goalscorer.
Having recently passed 100 matches in all competitions for the club, he is routinely showing precisely why Chelsea paid Brighton & Hove Albion so much – a reported £100million – for his services back in 2023.
Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool)
Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool went through a tricky period before the international break, but Gravenberch is one player who has shone, just as he did last season when named Hublot Young Player of the Season.
That award came when he was used in a primarily defensive role, but he has been afforded greater freedom this season, allowing him to add an attacking threat to his defensive duties.
As well as scoring twice, he has progressed the ball upfield via his carries an average of 112 metres per Premier League match – the most of any central midfielder to play 300+ minutes.
Jack Grealish (Everton)
A career that was seemingly stalling has been reinvigorated by a loan move to Everton.
Released from the restrictions of Pep Guardiola’s precise methods at Manchester City, Grealish is flourishing with freedom as Everton’s main man, providing four Premier League assists – the joint-highest this season – having only managed two in his previous two campaigns combined.
He won August’s EA SPORTS Player of the Month, scored a stoppage-time winner against Crystal Palace and has been talked about for an England recall.
Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace)
It says a lot that, despite splashing out a reported £450million on new signings this summer, much of the attention surrounding Liverpool’s indifferent form has focused on Guehi, the one transfer target who got away.
The centre-back has been imperious for Palace, completing more passes (325) and progressing the ball further (608m) than any of his team-mates in the Premier League this season.
His performances helped Palace to a club-record 19-match unbeaten run, and it is no surprise that he continues to be linked with some of the world’s biggest teams.

Erling Haaland (Man City)
Haaland believes he has “never felt better than I do now”, and it is not difficult to see why. In seven Premier League outings this season, the Man City striker has scored a remarkable nine goals (not to mention three in the UEFA Champions League and six for Norway).
No other player is within three goals of his Premier League tally, while he has scored more than nine entire clubs have managed in the top flight this season.
Mohammed Kudus (Tottenham Hotspur)
Like many of his former team-mates during a tough campaign, Kudus struggled to produce his best for West Ham United last season, but he has shown exactly why Spurs paid so much to sign him this summer.
The Ghanaian has made the Spurs right flank his own, immediately exhibiting just why he is deemed one of the world’s best players with the ball at his feet.
He has completed 30 dribbles in the Premier League this season – at least 11 more than any other player – while also providing a league joint-high of four assists.
Declan Rice (Arsenal)
Rice has retained the talismanic status that saw him named Arsenal’s 2024/25 player of the season.
His expert passing and set-piece delivery remain precise, while he leads his club’s charts in the Premier League this season for possession won (29) and ball-distance carried (1,401m).
He has also provided three league assists and scored his first goal in a victory against former club West Ham.
Robin Roefs (Sunderland)
Few would have predicted that, seven matches into the season, it would be Sunderland goalkeeper Roefs leading the way alongside Nick Pope for Fantasy Premier League points (41) among goalkeepers.
The 22-year-old had never played outside of his native Netherlands until moving to the promoted side this summer, but he has been instrumental in their high-flying start to the campaign, with a series of outstanding displays.
He has already kept three clean sheets, ranking third for goals prevented, with 2.7, and joint-third for saves, with 24.
Antoine Semenyo (AFC Bournemouth)
Bournemouth bid farewell to a host of big names over the summer – notably Milos Kerkez, Dango Ouattara, Illia Zabarnyi and Dean Huijsen – but keeping Semenyo is looking increasingly important with each passing week.
The Ghanaian international’s running ability and link-play compare with the best in the Premier League, while he is equally adept coming off either flank.
He has already scored six goals and provided three assists in the league, contributing to 82 per cent of Bournemouth’s 11 goals – the highest ratio of any player for any side.
Jurrien Timber (Arsenal)
With right-back Ben White struggling with injuries over the past year or so, Arsenal might have hoped for an able understudy to fill in during his absences; their wishes have been surpassed with the emergence of perhaps the Premier League’s standout full-back.
Equally adept defensively and offensively, Timber ranks third in the league’s full-back charts for touches in the opposition’s penalty area this season, with 24.
He has also made the most tackles (25) and won the most duels (43) of any Arsenal player.
Granit Xhaka (Sunderland)
There were some eyebrows raised when former Arsenal midfielder Xhaka returned to the Premier League this summer, joining promoted Sunderland after two seasons in Germany.
Immediately installed as captain, he has proven to be an inspirational leader and provided three assists, fewer only than Grealish and Kudus.
Of the 15 summer signings Sunderland made, Xhaka has been up there with the most important.
