It was a day to forget for Burnley's Maxime Esteve as he equalled an unwanted record in Saturday's 5-1 loss at Manchester City.
The centre-back scored TWO own goals at the Etihad Stadium, the joint-most in a Premier League match.
Esteve's moments of misfortune came in each half. In the 12th minute Jeremy Doku's shot was parried by Burnley goalkeeper Martin Dubravka into the Frenchman, and the ball rolled into the back of the net.
Esteve's second own goal came after the ball had diverted off him from Matheus Nunes' cross.
He is the sixth player in Premier League history to score two own goals in one match. The previous one was Craig Dawson for Wolverhampton Wanderers against Everton last season on 4 December 2024.

Agony for FPL managers
Not only was there agony for Esteve, there was also dismay for the 1.78million Fantasy Premier League managers who had him in their starting XI in Gameweek 6.
In FPL, for every two goals their team concede, defenders lose a point. And for every own goal scored, players are handed -2 points.
So despite Esteve earning two points for accruing 12 defensive contributions, the five goals his team conceded on top of his own goals earned him a total of -2 points.
