Belgium Under-21 international arrives at Old Trafford in a permanent move on Transfer Deadline Day

Manchester United have completed the signing of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on Transfer Deadline Day.

The 23-year-old has signed a contract until June 2030 is the fifth addition to Ruben Amorim's squad in the summer transfer window, following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko.

Lammens' career so far

After playing youth football for KRC Bambrugge and Dender in Belgium, Lammens impressed in Club Brugge's academy sides. For their Under-19s, he featured in the 2019/20 UEFA Youth League, keeping two clean sheets against Paris Saint-Germain, and remarkably scoring in a 2-2 draw against Real Madrid, with a stoppage-time header from a corner.

Lammens then stepped up to the senior team in 2021/22 as cover for former Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet but he would make only four appearances before departing to Antwerp at the end of his contract in June 2023.

He then became their first-choice goalkeeper at the start of last the 2024/25 season, and was twice voted the club's Player of the Month. He has developed a reputation for saving penalties, keeping out five spot-kicks in the past year, including one in Antwerp's opening 1-1 home draw with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in this campaign.

On the international stage, Lammens has been capped by Belgium at various youth levels including Under-21s and was selected in the senior squad for the first time in March, for two UEFA Nations League matches against Ukraine.

When could Lammens make his Man Utd debut?

Man Utd's next fixture, following the international break, is a huge one — away to Manchester City on Sunday 14 September.

Lammens will compete for a place in the starting line-up with three senior goalkeepers in Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton.
