Liverpool have completed the signing of forward Alexander Isak from Newcastle United for a British record transfer fee.
The Sweden international will wear the No 9 shirt at Anfield and joins the Premier League champions after a summer-long transfer saga comes to a conclusion.
“It’s been a long journey to get here. But I’m super-happy to be a part of this team, this club and everything it stands for. It’s something I’m proud of and I’m really looking forward to it,” Isak said in his first Liverpool interview.
“I’m just happy it’s done and that I can get back to work. I’m looking forward to seeing my teammates and the fans, and getting back out there.”
The 25-year-old arrives after scoring 54 goals and contributing 10 assists from 86 appearances during his three seasons in the Premier League with Newcastle.
Isak becomes Liverpool’s 10th new arrival in this summer transfer window, following Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Armin Pecsi, Freddie Woodman, Will Wright and Giovanni Leoni.
Isak's career so far
Born in Solna, Sweden on 21 September 1999, Isak started his career with Swedish side AIK, as he progressed through the club's ranks from 2015 to 2017.
A move to Germany was Isak's next destination as he joined Borussia Dortmund in January 2017.
He spent 18 months there before going on loan to Willem II in the Netherlands.
After the expiry of his loan, Isak wouldn't return to Dortmund but instead move to Spain with Real Sociedad where he spent three seasons there, scoring 44 times in 132 appearances.
Isak then joined Newcastle ahead of the 2022/23 season and played a huge part in the club securing UEFA Champions League finishes in two of his three seasons at St James' Park.

Liverpool fans will have to wait until after the international break to see their new forward in action when they travel to Burnley on Sunday 14 September.
