James Milner became the second-oldest goalscorer in Premier League history after scoring Brighton & Hove Albion’s equaliser against Manchester City.
Milner’s penalty, his first goal for Brighton, in the 67th minute of Sunday’s 2-1 win, came at the age of 39 years and 239 days old.

He celebrated by paying tribute to the late Diogo Jota, having taken the No 20 shirt this season in honour of his former Liverpool team-mate.
Teddy Sheringham is the oldest goalscorer in Premier League history, finding the back of the net for West Ham United at the age of 40 years and 268 days old.

Milner now also holds the record for the longest gap between first and last Premier League goals, with his latest goal coming 22 years and 248 days since he scored his maiden one for Leeds United at Sunderland on Boxing Day back in December 2002.
That goal, when Milner was only 16 years and 356 days old, remains as the goal scored by the second-youngest player in the Premier League.
Milner’s penalty against his former side Man City means he is also the oldest player to score from the spot in the Premier League, the 18th time he has converted from 12 yards in the top flight.
The goalkeeper he scored against, City's James Trafford, was born exactly one month before Milner's debut in the competition in 2002.
