This week’s FPL Challenge introduces the "Promoted" theme. This week, players from the promoted clubs earn DOUBLE points. There is a limit of one player per club., with managers selecting a 6-a-side team using an unlimited budget.
Here, FPL expert Tom Johnson reveals his team and explains his thinking, to help managers pick their own line-ups.
This week's Fantasy Challenge throws up plenty of tricky decisions, with promoted players scoring double, and two of the three, in Burnley and Sunderland, facing each other at Turf Moor.
The team I have settled on maximises upside and avoids clashes by not selecting a defender and an attacker from the Burnley v Sunderland match. I have opted to use all three of my promoted club slots.
Goalkeeper
In goal, I've opted for Burnley's Martin Dubravka (£4.0m).
The Slovakian goalkeeper looks to have claimed the No 1 jersey for Scott Parker's side and picked up a save point against Spurs in Gameweek 1.
Impressively, no team kept more clean sheets in the Championship than the Clarets last season.
The standout options away from the three promoted sides look to be Jordan Pickford (£5.5m), Djordje Petrovic (£4.5m) and David Raya (£5.5m). However, in Raya's case, I suspect most managers will want to fit in an Arsenal attacker. I know I do!
Pickford, the top-scoring FPL goalkeeper in each of the last two seasons, was just 10 minutes away from keeping a clean sheet in Gameweek 1 before Leeds scored a penalty.
I expect a big Everton performance in their first game at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Meanwhile, Petrovic has a home fixture against a Wolves side still coming to terms with the loss of Matheus Cunha (£8.0m) to Manchester United.
Defence
The first name on my teamsheet was the star of Gameweek 1, Daniel Ballard (£4.6m).
Ballard returned a massive 17 points against West Ham; combining a goal with a clean sheet, three bonus points and defensive contribution points.
Owned by nearly 35 per cent of managers, Sunderland's centre-back looks set to be a popular pick this week.
Daniel Munoz (£5.5m) takes the second spot in my backline after Crystal Palace's impressive shutout at Stamford Bridge.
Munoz offers significant attacking threat, proven by his 10 attacking returns in 2024/25, and the fact he actually underperformed his Expected Goals (xG) tally of 4.92.
Interestingly, the Colombian right wing-back would have picked up defensive contribution points in both of his appearances against Forest last season.
Marc Cucurella (£6.0m) and Rayan Ait-Nouri (£6.0m) were close to making the cut.
Midfield
My sole midfielder is a name that may be unfamiliar to many, Anton Stach (£5.0m) of Leeds United.
The German impressed against Everton in Gameweek 1, returning eight points thanks to an assist and defensive contribution points.
A repeat performance at Arsenal would see Stach return a massive 16 points, with his points doubled in Fantasy Challenge this week.
His underlying Expected Goal Involvement (xGI) of 0.56, split evenly between xG and Expected Assists (xA), provides further encouragement.
Leeds' summer signing is a big differential, currently owned by less than three per cent of Challenge managers.
Of course, big names like Cole Palmer (£10.5m) and Bukayo Saka (£10.0m) are extremely tempting picks. The ability to select these players depends on your choices elsewhere.
Forwards
With all three of my promoted slots used, Erling Haaland (£14.0m) and Viktor Gyokeres (£9.0m) complete my 2-1-2 formation. Both players were straightforward selections.
Haaland typically starts seasons strongly and once again delivered on the opening weekend, scoring twice against Wolves. No player registered more xG than his tally of 1.99.
The Norwegian forward will be my captain for the fixture at home to Spurs.
Meanwhile, Gyokeres will be keen to break his Premier League duck at the earliest opportunity. The Swede scored in Arsenal's final pre-season friendly at Emirates Stadium.
If you wish to opt for a promoted forward, Eliezer Mayenda (£5.5m) looks to be the best option. Sunderland's Spaniard started and scored against West Ham in Gameweek 1.
