Salah adds to goal record on emotional night at Anfield

Liverpool star pays tribute to Diogo Jota with celebration after going joint-fourth in all-time goalscorers' list

It was an emotional night for Mohamed Salah as he added another goal to a Premier League record in Liverpool’s dramatic 4-2 win over AFC Bournemouth.

On a night where Liverpool fans and the club paid tribute to their former player Diogo Jota, who died in a car accident last month, Salah seemed determined to make his own mark for his former team-mate.

And the Egyptian, who was seen to get emotional in the pre-match tributes to Jota, succeeded with the fourth goal in stoppage time that sealed an important win for the champions.

He adopted one of Jota’s celebrations to pay tribute and was again emotional after the final whistle when applauding the Kop.

His goal not only took Salah level with Andrew Cole in fourth on the all-time goalscoring list, on 187 goals, it also extended his record for the most goals scored on the opening weekend.
