Man Utd in pole position after beating Bournemouth in Summer Series

Patrick Dorgu gets goal and assist in 4-1 victory that leaves Red Devils one point away from lifting the trophy

Manchester United made it two wins from two matches in the Premier League Summer Series with an emphatic 4-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth at Soldier Field in Chicago.

With new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo both absent from the squad, Patrick Dorgu stole the show in the opening half-hour from his position on the left side of Man Utd’s four-man midfield in a 3-4-2-1 formation.

First he delivered the cross for Rasmus Hojlund’s eighth-minute headed opener, and then he ran on to Mason Mount’s chipped pass in behind to score himself in the 25th minute.

Amad pounced on a loose ball in the box to make it 3-0 in the 53rd minute, and 19-year-old Ethan Williams got a dream goal in the 72nd minute just moments after coming off the bench.

Bournemouth grabbed a late consolation goal as a sliding Matthijs de Ligt diverted David Brooks’s low cross into his own net.

Man Utd are top of the table in the Summer Series with six points, three points ahead of Bournemouth and West Ham United. They would secure the trophy with a draw against Everton on the final matchday in Atlanta on Sunday.
