Nottingham Forest have signed Switzerland international winger Dan Ndoye from Serie A side Bologna.
The 24-year-old, who has agreed a five-year deal, becomes Forest’s fourth arrival of the summer following the signings of Igor Jesus, Jair Cunha and Cherif Yaya.
"It is a really exciting time at Forest and I knew straight away that I wanted to be a part of the project," Ndoye told the club's website.
"It’s a really ambitious team with a fantastic history and I can’t wait to get started."
His arrival bolsters the club’s wide options after Anthony Elanga’s move to Newcastle United earlier in this window.
Ndoye’s versatility will appeal to head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, given the winger can operate on either flank and has also been used as a wing-back in a back three.
Ndoye’s career so far
Born in Nyon in the French-speaking part of Switzerland to a Swiss mother and Senegalese father, Ndoye came through the youth ranks at FC Lausanne-Sport, breaking into the first team as a teenager in the Swiss second tier.
In 2020 he earned a move to Ligue 1 with OGC Nice, where he made 28 appearances in the league and scored and assisted once each before returning Switzerland a year later to join FC Basel.
At Basel, Ndoye’s stock rose quickly. He contributed four goals and seven assists in his first season, followed by seven goals and five assists in 2022/23.
His performances him earned a move to Bologna, where he formed part of an exciting attack with Joshua Zirkzee and future Forest team-mate Nicolas Dominguez.
Last season, Ndoye got nine goals and six assists in all competitions, becoming a key part of Vincenzo Italiano’s side as they pushed into the European spots in Serie A.
International career
Ndoye represented Switzerland at U18, U19 and U21 level before making his senior debut on 24 September 2022 in a UEFA Nations League match against Spain.
He was part of the squad for Euro 2024, scoring in the group-stage draw against Germany and playing as an emergency wing-back in the last-16 win over Italy.
When could Ndoye make his debut for Forest?
Ndoye could make his first appearance in red during Forest’s pre-season match against Birmingham City on 2 August.
