Joao Palhinha offers defensive contribution points

While he may not deliver too many attacking returns, Joao Palhinha has the potential to flourish in FPL this season.

The new Tottenham Hotspur loan signing returns to the Premier League after a year away, having spent 2024/25 with German side Bayern Munich.

In his two previous seasons in the English top flight, Palhinha developed a reputation as one of Europe's top defensive midfielders - and it's that skillset that will help him thrive when it comes to the all-new defensive contribution points in FPL.

Across his two seasons with former club Fulham, Palhinha would have delivered 92 defensive contribution points, more than any other player in that time.

The Portugal international would have hit the required threshold of 12 defensive contributions for a midfielder in a massive 67.6 per cent of his matches.
