Arsenal sign winger Madueke from Chelsea

The 23-year-old becomes second player to arrive from Stamford Bridge this summer after Kepa

Arsenal have signed winger Noni Madueke from Chelsea.

The 23-year-old England international, who spent three seasons at Stamford Bridge, is the Gunners' fourth arrival in the summer transfer window. He will wear the No 20 shirt for Arsenal.

Madueke is also the second player to join Arsenal from Chelsea this summer, after goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

"To every staff member that helped me along this journey, thank you. To my team-mates thank you for everything, I leave with only love and admiration for you guys. We achieved so much this season and I honestly wish you guys nothing but the best," Madueke said in a farewell message on his Instagram page.

"To Enzo Maresca, it was a privilege to play under you, thank you for trying to better me as a player and as a person. Lastly thank you to every single Chelsea fan. Thank you for the love, the praise and also the criticism, I appreciate it all. I leave here with nothing but fond memories."

What did Madueke say after joining Arsenal?

"I'm somebody who goes with my gut feeling a lot of the time and I feel like it's steered me in the right direction so far. So, I don't think it's going to be any different here," Madueke said in his first interview as an Arsenal player.

"It's already a great team with a clear identity and I can't wait to bring my style to the team and try and help the boys as much as possible to take that next step."

Madueke’s career so far

Madueke was born on 10 March 2002, in Barnet, London and began his career at Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur and PSV Eindhoven, signing with the latter on a three-year deal.

He went on to make 80 appearances in all competitions between 2019 and 2023 for the Dutch side, before moving to Chelsea.

After joining the Blues in January 2023, Madueke’s first goal for the club came in a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal.

In August 2024, he scored the first hat-trick of his senior career in a 6–2 away win against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Madueke ended the 2024/25 season by starting the UEFA Conference League final, which Chelsea won by beating Spanish team Real Betis 4-1 in Wroclaw, Poland.

In total, he played 92 times for Chelsea and scored 20 goals across all competitions.

Madueke's international debut came in September 2024 and he has been capped a total of seven times.

When could Madueke make his Arsenal debut?

After playing for Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup, Madueke’s first match for Arsenal could could in pre-season against Villarreal on 5 August at Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners then start their 2025/26 campaign at Manchester United on 17 August.
