Reinildo to make Mozambique the league's 127th nation

Sunderland signing Reinildo Mandava is set to become the first player from Mozambique to play in the Premier League.

It would take the number of nationalities represented in the Premier League's 33-year history to 127.

The last new country to be added to the list was Uzbekistan in January this year, when Abdukodir Khusanov made his debut for Manchester City.

Two other nations debuted in the Premier League last season: Iraq, when Ali Al-Hamadi played for Ipswich Town, and Bangladesh, after Leicester City's Hamza Choudhury received FIFA clearance to represent them at senior level, having previously played for England Under-21s.

Some notable nations yet to have a Premier League player include India, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan and Thailand. 

There are 19 nations who have had only ONE Premier League player, with Reinildo set to take that total to 20.

Overall, England tops the list of countries represented in the Premier League, with 1,736 players. Next is France (242), Scotland (218), Republic of Ireland (209), Spain (172), Netherlands (155), Wales (135) and Brazil (125). 

Six of seven continents represented

The only continent not represented by a Premier League player is Antarctica.

A total of 48 different European nations have had a Premier League player, while Africa has had 33 different countries represented. Next is North America (19), followed by South America (12), Asia (12) and Oceania (two).
