A month on: Community Weekend at Craven Cottage
In June, Craven Cottage played host to Fulham FC Foundation’s Community Weekend, a powerful celebration of inclusion, activity, and opportunity. Across two days, more than 400 participants took to the pitch in four standout events bringing together people from across the Foundation’s wide-ranging programmes. Here’s a look back at a weekend full of energy, inspiration and community spirit: Walking Football Festival The weekend kicked off with the Health & Wellbeing Walking Football Festival, welcoming 70+ players from across South-West London for a day of friendly matches, connection, and celebration of staying active at any age. EmpowHer Festival for Women & Girls Saturday afternoon saw the pitch taken over by girls for the EmpowHer Festival an inspiring showcase of confidence-building football, skill sessions, and fun, aimed at boosting female participation in the sport. Foundation Community Day Sunday welcomed participants from Soccer Schools, Skills Club, Pan DisAbility, and the Girls Development Centre for a memorable morning of fun football training sessions and matches before family members got to join their child on the iconic pitch to take in the scenery. Paul Smithers Kicks Cup The weekend wrapped up with the Paul Smithers Kicks Cup, a tournament honouring the legacy of a much-loved Youth and Community Manager. The event brought together young people from Premier League Kicks and celebrated values of teamwork, leadership, and dedication. This year’s Paul Smithers Award was proudly won by Shai Ivey. A Weekend to Remember The Foundation’s CEO, Mike McSweeney, summed it up best: "It was a fantastic showcase of our work and a celebration of the power of football to bring people together. Huge thanks to everyone at Fulham FC who made these moments possible."
