A dream come true says Wilms

Lynn Wilms is excited to be turning her dream into reality by representing Aston Villa in the Women’s Super League. The defender has put pen-to-paper on a deal with the club as she becomes Natalia Arroyo’s first summer addition. Speaking to our new signing, Wilms said: “I am very happy, I’m super excited, it’s a big club. “I just walked through the training ground, and it looks super nice so I’m really excited.” The move also allows the 24-year-old to fulfil her dream of playing in England, shares Wilms. “It’s always a dream for me to go to the Super League. “I think this is now the biggest stage in women’s football so, it’s exciting.” Wilms also shares that conversations with her Netherlands teammates Jill Baijings and Chasity Grant helped persuade her that the move to B6 was the correct one. “To be honest, when the talks started, I immediately had a good feeling, good energy and also a good connection with the people. “Obviously, I know Jill and Chas who played here, and I heard some good stories about Villa. “Last year I saw them play and the last five games they did such a good job, and I think they have a really good squad, and the team plays with a lot of heart and fire and that’s something that suits me,” she added. Wilms, who has played for Twente and VfL Wolfsburg during her career, also revealed her personal aspirations for the upcoming 25/26 campaign. She said: “Last year I had a great season in the Bundesliga, and I hope I can be as consistent as I was last year. “Also, to stay healthy as I think that’s the biggest blessing that we all have. “But I hope I can help the team a lot, I hope I can be one of the best defenders in the league.” Playing in front of the side’s supporters at Villa Park is also a prospect that excites the defender. “There are a lot of teams that play at big stadiums and that’s quite exciting,” Wilms expressed. “Villa Park is an amazing stadium, it looks very nice and I’m super excited to see all of the fans there and to play in the big stadium and to win there.” A defender that loves to attack, Wilms gives an insight into the type of player she is and what she will bring to the field next season. She shared: “I am a defender who also loves to attack. “I can also be very hard in a duel; I am going in first as a leader in the fire. “I hope I can lead my team with my fight as a defender but also in my offence, I have the power to join attack and I have some good crosses. “Maybe make some assists, hopefully, and score. “So, I think I have some good qualities to help the team.”
