Newcastle sign Elanga from Forest

Sweden forward is Eddie Howe’s second signing of summer transfer window

Newcastle United have completed the signing of forward Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest

Elanga, 23, is Newcastle's second addition of the summer transfer window, following winger Antonio Cordero's move from Malaga.

The Sweden international arrives at St James’ Park after a standout 2024/25 campaign with Forest where he featured in all 38 Premier League matches.

He scored six goals and registered 11 assists as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side secured European football for the first time in 30 years.

Elanga adds to Newcastle’s attacking options ahead of their return to the UEFA Champions League.

He told the club's official website: "I'm excited, I'm really happy but most importantly I'm ready.

"I'm ready to put on this black and white top to really fight for this team and give everything for the passionate fanbase that lives and breathes football.

"I had an amazing two years at Nottingham Forest, they really helped me to become the player I am today, but I'm really happy to be here now."

Elanga’s career so far

Born in Sweden, Elanga began his youth career with IF Elfsborg and hometown club Malmo before his family moved to England, joining Manchester United’s academy at the age of 12.

He was named Man Utd's Young Player of the Year in 2020 and made his senior debut in May 2021, scoring in just his second Premier League appearance at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Elanga moved to Nottingham Forest in 2023 and made an immediate impact. In total, he contributed 37 goal involvements (14 goals, 23 assists) in 113 appearances.

At international level, Elanga made his debut for Sweden in 2022 and has since earned 22 caps, scoring four goals.
