FPL signings: Will Joao Pedro be a viable pick at Chelsea?

Fantasy Premier League

The Scout assesses the Brazilian's Fantasy appeal following his move from Brighton

The signing of Joao Pedro could be good news for Chelsea’s attacking prospects in 2025/26 Fantasy Premier League.

Joao Pedro arrives on the back of 10 goals and six assists in 27 league appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion last season. He also has three caps for Brazil, having made his international debut in November 2023.

The versatile attacker offers an option through the middle or on the left flank for Enzo Maresca’s side, where he can cut inside on to his favoured right foot.

Considering his ability to operate in various attacking positions, it will be worth monitoring the Blues’ pre-season matches to get a better idea of the Italian’s tactical plans for him.

Regardless of role, however, Joao Pedro’s goal threat and assist potential could be key for Chelsea.

His 37 shots in the box and 30 chances created both ranked among the top three Brighton players last season. Those figures are made all the more impressive considering he only started 23 league matches.

Kind opening fixtures

Chelsea’s early schedule further boosts Joao Pedro’s appeal.

The Blues won’t leave the capital until late September, with four successive London derbies to start the season.

They won’t face a side with a score higher than three in the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR) across their opening six contests, either.

Will he be a regular starter?

Given the wealth of attacking options available to Maresca, there could be some risk around Joao Pedro’s minutes, particularly as Chelsea will be competing in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League.

It is also important to mention that the Brazilian’s goal tally in 2024/25 was enhanced by successfully converting five penalties.

It is hard to see Cole Palmer relinquishing penalty duties any time soon for Chelsea, so that is one route to points that may consequently be unavailable.

Nevertheless, Joao Pedro certainly possesses the talent to thrive at Stamford Bridge, and if he adapts quickly, he could prove a big influence on how Fantasy managers pick their Chelsea players in 2025/26.
