Spaniard, 21, agrees a five-year deal and becomes club's first summer arrival

Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed Spanish attacker Fer Lopez from Celta Vigo.

The 21-year-old is Wolves' first signing of the summer as he agrees to a five-year contract, following Jorgen Strand Larsen in moving from the Spanish club to Molineux, and spoke to the official club website after the transfer was completed.

"The club told me, and Vitor [Pereira] told me that they thought that I was a good fit in the squad," Lopez said.

"When it’s a club like this, you have little to think about. It's true, it was very hard to leave my boyhood club, but I was very pleased to come here and play in, with LaLiga I think, the best league in the world.

“Last season I played at the Bernabeu twice, I played Barcelona away, Atletico Madrid away – they were the best atmospheres in Spain. Now, I want to do the same, but in England.”

Lopez, who turned 21 last month, is a product of Vigo's youth set-up and after impressing for Gran Pena and Celta B, he was given his senior opportunity after signing a new contract last summer.

Madrid-born Lopez made his senior debut in a 5-1 Copa Dey Rey win over San Pedro last October, following up with his LaLiga debut three days later against Mallorca.

He made 20 first-team appearances in total for Celta Vigo and now returns to the England, having previously spent three months in Suffolk in 2018 for educational purposes.
