Two teams, Southampton and Leicester City, have been confirmed as relegated from the 2024/25 Premier League.
Here, we look at who else may join these two teams - and when.
What is relegation?
The teams who finish the season in the bottom three places of the Premier League table - 18th, 19th and 20th - drop down to the Championship, the second tier of English football.
Those teams are replaced in the Premier League for the following season by three promoted clubs - the sides who finish first and second in the Championship, plus the winners of that division's end-of-season playoffs.
What is the state of play?
Southampton are already relegated, because they are 25 points behind the 17th-placed team, West Ham United, and have only 15 points available to play for. Even if they win all of their five remaining matches, they cannot catch West Ham, and are therefore guaranteed to finish in the bottom three.
Leicester were relegated in Matchweek 33 when they failed to beat leaders Liverpool. The defeat means they are 18 points behind West Ham and have only a maximum of 15 points available to win from their five remaining matches.
When could the final relegation place be decided?
Ipswich Town are the team most at threat of having their relegation confirmed. They are 18th, on 21 points, 15 behind West Ham in 17th.
Ipswich have five matches remaining, so their maximum possible total is 36 points - the total West Ham currently have.
That means they can only match West Ham on points.
So it would only take a draw for West Ham at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday to confirm their safety and relegate Ipswich, even if the Tractor Boys were to win their remaining five matches.

Can Southampton avoid unwanted record?
While Saints’ relegation is confirmed, they still have something to play for.
They are trying to avoid the unwanted record for the lowest-ever points tally in a Premier League season.
Derby County finished with 11 points in 2007/08 - but following their 1-1 draw at West Ham last Saturday, Saints only need one more point to better the Rams' total.
