Spain international makes the switch to Stamford Bridge on seven-year contract

Chelsea have signed goalkeeper Robert Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion, with the Spain international agreeing a seven-year contract.

The 25-year-old has made 87 Premier League appearances, keeping 27 clean sheets, including a club-record 11 in the 2021/22 season.

Co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart told the club's official website: "We’re very pleased to welcome Robert to Chelsea and he adds further quality to our goalkeeping unit.

"Robert has repeatedly proved himself in the Premier League and been capped by his country. We are excited to watch him work with Mauricio and his coaching team during the season ahead."

Sanchez replaces Edouard Mendy, who was sold to Al-Ahli in the summer.

Chelsea open their Premier League season at home to Liverpool on Sunday 13 August.
