See the striker's best goals and record-breaking achievements as we profile the 15 nominees in contention

We are looking at the 15 nominees who have been shortlisted for the Premier League Hall of Fame in 2025.

Fans around the world are invited to select two of the 15 contenders via the Premier League app or at premierleague.com/halloffame, with the public vote closing at 12:00 BST on Monday 15 September.

The results of the fan poll will be presented to the existing 24 Premier League Hall of Fame members – including Sir Alex Ferguson, Thierry Henry and Alan Shearer – who will then cast their votes to decide who is inducted in 2025.

Jermain Defoe

Defoe became a fans' favourite thanks to his ability to score on a regular basis across eight spells at six different Premier League clubs.

His 162 Premier League goals are the 10th-highest in the competition’s history, including 91 in 276 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur. It was only at AFC Bournemouth that he did not reach double figures.

Defoe's poacher's instinct was matched by his ability to score spectacular goals, with 22 of his 162 strikes coming from outside of the box, 17 of which were for Spurs.

His superb hit from a narrow angle for Bournemouth at Crystal Palace won the December 2017 Goal of the Month award. Sunderland fans will also remember with fondness his brilliant winning volley in the Tyne-Wear derby in April 2015.
