On this day - 14 March 1998: Arsenal win at Man Utd

We remember when Marc Overmars secured a 1-0 win over the leaders to set the Gunners on the path to becoming PL champions for the first time

Twenty-two years ago today, Marc Overmars scored what would prove to be a crucial goal in Arsenal's first-ever Premier League title-winning season.

It was leaders against chasers at Old Trafford with Manchester United, who had been champions in four of the previous five campaigns, nine points ahead of the Gunners.

But Arsene Wenger's side blew the title race wide open with Overmars racing on to Nicolas Anelka's 79th-minute flick-on and beating Peter Schmeichel

It took Arsenal to 10 matches unbeaten, a run which they extended to 18 over the run-in to finish ahead of Man Utd by a single point and lift the Premier League Trophy for the first time.
