All you need to know about how FPL bonus points are calculated and awarded on matchdays

In-match statistics generate FPL bonus points. Here is how they are calculated and awarded.

Bonus points are a key part of scoring in Fantasy Premier League.

They are calculated and allocated after each match using the Bonus Points System (BPS).

The BPS uses a range of statistics supplied by Opta that capture players’ actions on the pitch to produce a performance score for every player.

The three players with the highest BPS scores in a match receive bonus points: three points for the highest-scoring player, two for the second-highest and one for the third-highest.

Bonus point ties are resolved as follows:

• If there is a tie for first place, Players 1 and 2 each receive 3 points, and Player 3 receives 1 point.

• If there is a tie for second place, Player 1 receives 3 points, and Players 2 and 3 each receive 2 points.

• If there is a tie for third place, Player 1 receives 3 points, Player 2 receives 2 points, and Players 3 and 4 each receive 1 point.

Players earn BPS based on the following statistics, with each action worth one point unless otherwise stated:
