Sheringham is the oldest player to ever score a Premier League goal, aged 40 years and 268 days at the time of his final goal in the competition (for West Ham against Portsmouth in December 2006).

He is also the oldest player to score a Premier League hat-trick. He was aged 37 years and 146 days when he netted three goals for Portsmouth against Bolton Wanderers in August 2003.
