The Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund is committed to improving the country's roster of local football facilities.
The Fund, financed by the Premier League, The FA, and the Government, via Sport England and delivered by the Football Foundation, provides grants for building or refurbishing local facilities across the country.
This investment provides funding for items such as artificial grass pitches, drainage and improvements to grass pitches, pavilions and changing rooms.
By providing more high-quality facilities, coupled with coaching at the appropriate age group, the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund aims to improve the experience for regular players as well as attracting new players to the game.
The facilities do not just help to increase sports participation. Many of the new facilities are used to strengthen the bond between professional football clubs and their local communities, particularly in the most deprived areas of the country, as they will become hubs for football clubs' community trusts' outreach work.
With floodlights and improved surfaces that are not prone to the effect on inclement weather, matches, coaching sessions and other sporting activity can continue into the winter months.
This funding has supported 16,075 grassroots sport projects since 2000.
