Manchester United winger Nani has denied claims he was looking for a way out of Old Trafford.
The in-form Portuguese star has been back in the side in recent weeks after finding himself on the sidelines.
There had been rumours that Nani had grown disenchanted with life at United and that the former Sporting Lisbon player was looking to leave.
get depressed
But he has now dismissed that notion, stressing: "I never wanted to go.
"When you are feeling low and things aren't going well, you do feel alone and there have been times like that. But I never thought about quitting and going back to Portugal.
"I was in a bad position sometimes and it wasn't easy to get back up again. Of course, your confidence does suffer on occasions and you get down.
"But I have shown I don't get depressed too easily. I am a strong personality. If you are not a strong character then it will drag you down.
"I am not like that. I am sure I have the quality to be one of the best in the world. I can achieve that."
Nani caught the eye in the recent 4-0 defeat of Hull City and was an influential figure in the 3-1 win over Arsenal. His cross led to the first goal and he set up the second for Wayne Rooney after a swift counterattack.
