Leaders Chelsea take on champions Manchester United in a mouth-watering encounter at Stamford Bridge.

And Law, who won the league with United in 1967, believes fans will be in for a treat as two of the top division's heavyweights go head-to-head.

exciting players

The former Red Devils striker said: "It is going to be a hell of a game, one to set the pulse racing.

"Both teams like to play football and to go forward and both have exciting players so I am sure there will be goals in it.

"Sometimes when there is a big build-up to a match it can be a bit of a let-down with both sides being cagey and cancelling each other out.

"But I don't see that being the the case on Sunday. Both will go all out to win it.

"It is an old cliche to call it a six-pointer but it really is. If Chelsea win they will be five points clear which is quite a gap while United will be looking to edge in front of them.

"If you press me for a prediction I would probably say a draw which would not be a disaster for either side."

While the outcome will have a major impact on the early placings, Law does not see Sunday's match as being decisive in the tussle for the crown.

pushing hard

The Scottish international scored 171 goals in 309 appearances for Manchester United and 30 in 68 matches during two stints with City.

And he is thrilled to see both neighbouring clubs in the thick of what could be the tightest title race for years.

He added: "You have the usual suspects with Liverpool and Arsenal right up there and the Gunners are going really well.

"Aston Villa and Tottenham are pushing hard and now Manchester City have come into the reckoning as well which they should do with the amount of money they have spent.

"Having played for both Manchester clubs, I think it is great to see them both up there. It is a real football city and I would like both to do well.

"I think the team who wins the league this year may well end up losing more games in a season than has been the case in recent years.

"Already United and Chelsea have lost two each. They will still be the favourites but teams are all capable of taking points off each other.

"It is not just the title race which will be close, there will be a major battle to get into the top four.

"It is so important financially to get into the Champions League that for some teams just getting into the top four is like winning the league."
