Hull City chairman Paul Duffen is backing manager Phil Brown to turn the club's fortunes around.
The Tigers are languishing in the bottom three after a poor start to the Barclays Premier League season.
They have just eight points from 10 matches and were unable to beat bottom club Portsmouth last Saturday at the KC Stadium.
But Duffen has defended Brown and reckons he is doing a better job than Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez.
all records
Duffen said: "If you look at Phil's squad and what he will do with it this season compared to Rafa, you'll find Phil will come out top in terms of adding value to players.
"We were written off by everybody last year and told we were going to redefine the expression 'doing a Derby' - but we broke all records for a newly-promoted side. People use that as a stick to beat Phil with because he over-achieved so much last year."
