Steven Caldwell has urged his Burnley team-mates to bounce back from their first home defeat of the season.
The Clarets lost 3-1 to Wigan Athletic at Turf Moor on Saturday despite going ahead through Steven Fletcher.
Wigan hit back with two goals from Hugo Rodallega and a third from Emmerson Boyce to end Burnley's 100 per cent home record.
And skipper Caldwell reckons the players can call on the spirit of last season's promotion campaign if they are to beat relegation.
disappointing defeat
"We were proud of our home record but it's about how we bounce back," he said.
"I often think back to last season when we had five defeats in a row at Christmas and that's an important time in a season.
"We managed to bounce back from that and we are a team with resilience and a staff who pick us up very well."
Caldwell believes the best way for Burnley to recover is with victory at home to Hull City this Saturday.
"You have to learn from the mistakes and performances and there are a lot of things to learn which we'll go away and do," he said.
"But the important thing is that you don't get too down about it. It's a very disappointing defeat for us but we've got a massive game next Saturday at home to Hull. We will analyse the Wigan game, look at it and then put it to bed."
