Australian international Garcia is looking forward to playing Beijing Guoan and at long last coming up against Griffiths on a football pitch in the Barclays Asia Trophy next week.

The right winger, who started his career at fellow Barclays Asia Trophy team West Ham United, has played all of his professional career in England and never thought that he would play against fellow Aussie Griffiths in China.

"I knew that Ryan plays for Beijing Guoan so it was the first thing I thought of when it was confirmed that Hull were taking part in the Barclays Asia Trophy," he said. "I'm really looking forward to going up against him and I'm sure that both he and Beijing Guoan will provide a tough game for us. These little duels are what make events like this so fantastic for footballers and personally I'm really excited to be coming to Beijing."

Garcia, who featured in Hull's successful first season in the Barclays Premier League, is also keen to once more experience the passion of football fans in Asia.

fabulous atmosphere

He said: "It's great playing out in Asia. I have experienced what it is like when I've been there with the Australian national side. The crowds there are very loud and passionate and they really get behind their side, no matter what the score is on the pitch.

"The chanting and the songs are certainly a bit different to what we're used to in England, but they always create a fabulous atmosphere and it's wonderful to play in because they really scream their hearts out. I've heard that Beijing Guoan fans are some of noisiest of the lot."

Garcia, who speaks fluent Spanish and is a huge fan of Beijing Guoan's sister team Real Madrid, admits that the temperature in Beijing will take some getting used to but that he and his Hull team mates are relishing the challenge of playing Premier League standard football in China.

"I know that in July Beijing is a really warm place to play," said Garcia. "But that is something we are going to have to deal with. It's all part of going away in pre-season and the conditions will be a test for all of the Premier League clubs, in fact it should give Beijing Guoan a bit of advantage over us."

He added: "I'm really looking forward to the Barclays Asia Trophy and it will be a new experience for all of us, both in terms of football and culture. The entire Hull squad are looking forward to flying around the world and playing a couple of games in a new country and learning more about China."
