A review of the news from around the grounds of each Barclays Premier League club.
Arsenal
Arsene Wenger has admitted defender Philippe Senderos could leave Arsenal this summer. Senderos' future is uncertain after he openly conceded he would be keen to return to Italy having enjoyed a season-long loan at AC Milan last term. A permanent stay at the San Siro has since failed to materialise and the Switzerland international is currently training with the Gunners in Austria. Wenger admits Senderos, who signed for Arsenal from Servette in 2003, could be on his way out of the club, with reports suggesting he could be used as part of a deal for Bordeaux's Marouane Chamakh. He said: "He has offers and it is open. He has come back here with us still looking for solutions but he is still yet to decide on his future."
Aston Villa
Aston Villa's England Under-21 players - Gabriel Agbonlahor, James Milner and Craig Gardner - have been excluded from the squad for the Peace Cup in Spain. The Villa trio did not end their involvement in the European Championships in Sweden until the end of June and will not report back with the Midlands club until early August after being given an extra break. Left-back Wilfred Bouma, who missed all of last season with a dislocated ankle, has been selected. And the likes of Emile Heskey, John Carew and Stiliyan Petrov, who were involved in World Cup qualifiers until the second week of June, have been included in the party by manager Martin O'Neill.

Alex McLeish has revealed record signing Christian Benitez is unlikely to be fit for the opening match of the Barclays Premier League season against Manchester United. The Ecuador striker, who is waiting on UK entry visa clearance, is recovering from a shoulder operation and is seven weeks into a 12-week rehabilitation programme. McLeish said: "It doesn't look good for the first game against Manchester United but we'll see how quickly he heals for the second game. We've just got to be patient. We haven't signed Benitez for the first game of the season, we've signed him for the full season and we have to make sure he's fit for the whole season."
Blackburn Rovers
Blackburn striker Paul Gallagher hopes to take his last chance at Rovers after being given the opportunity to stake a claim for a first-team place by manager Sam Allardyce. The 24-year-old has endured a frustrating time at the club where he began as a youth-team player, having spent the last few years on loan at Championship clubs. "It has come as a big surprise that I am still here this summer," said Gallagher. "When I was at Plymouth I never spoke to Sam Allardyce, I didn't know what he thought of me and then the next thing I saw was on television saying the club would listen to offers for me. I thought that was it. It was time to move on and I really believed I was going to have to move away to further my career. Suddenly a couple of strikers have left and I have the chance to show what I can do in pre-season."

South Korea international Lee Chung-yong has confirmed he is heading for talks over a move to Bolton Wanderers. Trotters manager Gary Megson has been a long-term admirer of the winger and is now close to agreeing a deal. A fee in excess of £2m has been mooted for the 21-year-old, who currently plays for FC Seoul in his homeland. He left the South Korean capital on Monday morning to travel to England to hold discussions over personal terms and undergo a medical with Bolton. And the highly-rated youngster is hoping that he can return to Korea with positive news regarding a switch to the Barclays Premier League. "A deal has yet to be signed, but I will try to come back with good results," Lee said.
burnley
Burnley manager Owen Coyle has hinted that he could be set to offer Fernando Guerrero a contract after being impressed by the Ecuadorian striker in pre-season. The 19-year-old winger has been on trial with the Clarets in recent weeks and produced an eye-catching performance in the 5-0 friendly victory over Ventura County Fusion. He is now set to get another opportunity in Sunday's match against professional outfit Portland Timbers, who play two tiers above Fusion. Coyle accepts that Guerrero still needs to improve in many areas but he recognises the youngster's raw talent. "He's a young kid with a lot to learn in the game," Coyle said. "He's certainly not the finished article but he's exciting - the type of player that I like. We've got a few of them, but I like four or five of them."
Chelsea
Manager Carlo Ancelotti remains unable to select new signing Yuri Zhirkov in pre-season because the Russia international has yet to be granted a work permit. The former CSKA Moscow star arrived at Stamford Bridge earlier in the summer after signing a three-year contract with last season's FA Cup winners. But Zhirkov is not able to play during Chelsea's current pre-season tour of the USA because he has yet to be granted international clearance. Ancelotti said: "For Yuri Zhirkov it is not possible to put him in because we have to wait for his work permit. He is working with the team on tour and is a very good player, but has a little problem with the language."
Everton
Everton legend Neville Southall thinks the club could be forced down the Barclays Premier League table by the spending power of their rivals. Manager David Moyes has so far failed to make any major additions to the squad that finished fifth last term and runners-up in the FA Cup, apart from extending Brazilian striker Jo's loan spell for another year. Southall said: "Everton did very well last season, although I was a bit disappointed with the final (performance). Now this coming season is going to be a big one. They have to push on. But Manchester City are spending tons of money, Spurs look like they will be doing the same and you would expect Aston Villa to keep on spending. Now Everton have to find someone to put some money into the club, because if they don't they could find themselves slipping down to eighth or ninth in the table."
Fulham
South Africa midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi will have to wait and see if Fulham choose to make his trial permanent. The 24-year-old Golden Arrows player has been training with the club on a week-long stint and said: "I trained with the main team. I was a bit apprehensive when I started but I quickly got the hang of things. I think I coped but at the end of the day it's not up to me, it's the coach that makes the decision."
Hull City
Phil Brown admits three Barclays Premier League sides are chasing Michael Turner, with the Hull manager adding he could sell for the right price. The 25-year-old only signed a new four-year deal in February to keep him at the KC Stadium until 2013. But Brown revealed if a club matched his valuation of the defender then he could be tempted to sell one of his star performers from last term. "I've had three Premier League managers enquire about Michael but I have an evaluation of him based on the current transfer market," Brown said. "Michael has a price tag and if someone decided to come in and reached that price tag, then there's a possibility we may lose him. But I will endeavour to keep Michael Turner - and all of our best players - at this football club."
Liverpool
Liverpool's injured duo Martin Skrtel and Nabil El Zhar will fly home from the Far East on Thursday to have potentially serious injuries assessed in the UK. Both players were injured in Wednesday's 1-1 friendly draw with Thailand in Bangkok. Liverpool have now flown on for the second leg of their Asian tour and have arrived in Singapore for Sunday's match against the national side. But Skrtel and El Zhar were heading in the opposite direction back to Merseyside to undergo scans on their injuries. Central defender Skrtel has a hamstring problem while midfielder El Zhar damaged a knee ligament. Skrtel's is potentially the most serious injury and it is feared he could miss the start of the season. El Zhar will also not be involved now for at least a fortnight, and may not be available until the home friendly with Atletico Madrid on 8th August.
manchester city
Former Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry feels he is fitting in well at Eastlands after his move from the Midlands. He said: "I have only been training for a week with City. There are new faces and the training is different, but I am getting used to it. I have signed a five-year contract with City and I believe I will play Champions League football with them."
Manchester United
Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed some of the reasons why he has remained manager for 23 years. "I suppose I am at the right club," he said. "It is a fantastic club to be at; great fans, great players. It makes it much easier for me to continue as long as I have. I have been blessed with good energy and good health, which is what you need at Manchester United because this club needs to be successful all the time."
Portsmouth
Noe Pamarot has linked up with Nantes for a trial following his departure from Portsmouth. He was under contract at Fratton Park until the end of last season but he was not then offered a new deal. Pamarot has been linked with a move back to France for much of the summer, with Monaco and St Etienne reportedly interested. Nantes, relegated from Ligue 1, have now given the 30-year-old the opportunity to show what he can do. He said: "It is true I am here for 10 days. I hope to earn a contract and play at a great club like Nantes."
stoke city
Dave Kitson is philosophical about the collapse of his return to Reading and has pledged his full commitment to Stoke City's second season in the Barclays Premier League. "The fact that I didn't make a move to Reading really didn't bother me, because I am happy here and I have no intention of running away," he said. "I signed a three-year contract when I joined with the intention of playing for Stoke for three years. Now I am back at Stoke the goal is to improve on what we did last year and I think we are very able and very capable of doing that. I am one of those people who thinks 'Right, I have got another chance and this year I am going to show people what I can do'. I have always had that mentality."
sunderland
Former Sunderland manager Ricky Sbragia has been appointed as Steve Bruce's new chief scout. The Black Cats have confirmed the Scot had agreed to head up the club's coaching set-up after being promised a job for life following his stint as first-team manager last season. Bruce said: "Ricky has a wealth of knowledge and experience and I'm delighted that he will be heading up our scouting operation. He has a vast network of contacts and he knows just what it takes to be a successful footballer at this club, so I'm sure he will be a fantastic asset to our backroom team."
tottenham hotspur
Harry Redknapp has dismissed reports linking Aston Villa with an interest in midfielder Jermaine Jenas. He said: "I have never heard a thing from Aston Villa. I don't know where those stories keep coming from. No one has ever contacted us. I don't want to sell Jermaine Jenas, he is a terrific player. We don't want to sell our best players."
West Ham United
West Ham United have confirmed the signing of Frank Nouble from Barclays Premier League rivals Chelsea. West Ham have been lining up a move for the teenager for the last few weeks after he rejected the offer of a professional contract at Chelsea. Nouble has signed a five-year deal at Upton Park and he is looking forward to joining West Ham. "It is a great day for me and my family," Nouble said. "I am just excited now to get started at this club."
Wigan Athletic
Roberto Martinez will give Jason Koumas a chance to resurrect his career. The Welshman has struggled with fitness and a lack of starts over the last two seasons, but remains a highly talented player when on form. "We need to get Jason playing with a smile on his face again because he has got the ability to hurt any defence," Martinez said.
wolverhampton wanderers
Michael Kightly was delighted to finally return to the fold after featuring in Wednesday's friendly defeat at Port Vale. Kightly, who is back after breaking his metatarsal in a training ground session four months ago, came off the bench in the 65th minute at Vale Park. "The foot felt really good," he said. "The plan was to play half an hour which I virtually got. I was blowing a little bit but that was to be expected and hopefully now I can just progress with more minutes. I've been training fully and I did most of the training in Australia. I missed a session here and there if it felt tight or stiff which was wise because there was never any way they were going to throw me back in the deep end. And that's the way it will go with how much I play too. Hopefully when the season starts I'll be ready."
