The Barclays Premier League newcomers signed the 26-year-old from Red Star Belgrade two weeks ago but he fell just short of the minimum number of international appearances required to secure a permit.

However, the club appealed against the decision and enlisted help from Serbia coach Raddy Antic, who supported Milijas' case. And an appeal panel including officials from the Football Association, Premier League and Professional Footballers' Association granted the player's permit on Thursday.

"It is great news," said Milijas. "I am really glad that I am now a Wolves player and can't wait to get started.

After attending the hearing, CEO Jez Moxey said: "We are delighted that we have successfully received the work permit for Nenad.

"With the case that we were presenting, we were always quietly confident that we would receive the permit but until it was completed we weren't getting carried away.

"We had a very good hearing and are delighted that Nenad will now be able to join the team in Australia and look forward to his Wolves career."
