Albert Riera says Liverpool must keep hold of their stars if they want to win the Barclays Premier League.
Riera himself, Xabi Alonso, Alvaro Arbeloa and Javier Mascherano have all been reported targets for Liverpool's major rivals.
But the 27-year-old believes the club's top players should remain at Anfield as the Reds bid to claim the league title next season.
keep them
The Spain winger said: "It's vital we keep all our players because you could see this year that every player was really important.
"Alonso, Arbeloa and Mascherano gave us a lot of quality so we have to keep them.
"But not only these, all our players. If you want to win the league this is the first step."
Riera added: "The key thing is we have a very hard mentality. We have a very good dressing room and a lot of players with experience. Liverpool is not a team that has a lot of players on the bench, a lot of options. So the first step is to keep the players we have and if we can add some players it will help us to play better."
Riera has made 40 appearances and scored five goals since signing from Espanyol last September for £8m.
