Wolverhampton Wanderers and Birmingham City are back in the Premier League while Burnley return to the top flight for the first time since 1976.

Wolves won the Championship title, Birmingham grabbed runners-up spot on the final day of the season and with it automatic promotion while Burnley triumphed in the play-offs, beating Sheffield United at Wembley.

All three clubs will be tipped by the bookies for instant relegation but Redknapp believes they have a good chance of survival thanks to their canny managers.

Mick McCarthy has learned from his Premier League experience with Sunderland while Alex McLeish took charge of the Blues during their previous stint in the top flight. And Owen Coyle's stock is high after leading the Clarets to the top flight despite a limited budget.

great traditions

Redknapp told the official Spurs website: "They are all big clubs with great traditions and they will all be determined to stay up.

"I would never write them off. I remember coming up with Portsmouth and everyone thought we would go straight back down but Pompey are now established in the Premier League.

"They've all got clever managers who know what they are doing and Birmingham are clearly going to have a go - they've just paid a lot of money for Christian Benitez from Ecuador, who is a good player.

"Burnley look a close-knit unit, they believe in what they are doing and Owen Coyle has done a great job there. They are a good footballing team but it's not just about their style, it's about having good players as well."
